Business Lesson: Power of Consistency

business tipsThere's a Chinese saying:
"Be not afraid of going slowly. Be only afraid of standing still."

In Ancient Greece there was a story with the moral:
"Slow and steady wins the race."
(In America it's a cartoon.)

The cultures, the centuries, the languages are all different but isn't funny how they all managed to stumble onto the same idea: consistency counts. There really is no substitute for experience as a teacher and before I implemented this idea I never really understood how powerful it really was.
[Story Continues]

This idea of being consistent is important no matter where you're at in any business venture - but ESPECIALLY if you aren't seeing growth in a business that you really enjoy - try adding consistency to the mix.

Breaking Down an Idea. Sometimes you need to break your big life-altering idea down to the tiny parts - the things that you can do right now, and then make those LITTLE, easier steps your goals. Don't make your 1 goal be: Dominate the market. Break it down and then work it consistently.
One of the first articles I did here was about $25,000 business advice that one consultant offered to a business owner. Combined you won't find 2 simpler ideas that have such profound effects on your business or any goal you've set for yourself.

Consistent contact is how you win clients. A consistent message makes a sales letter effective. Consistently achieving your small goals is how you get to those big ones. Unfortunately, people get that big goal in mind and work furiously for a short time-frame, but they don't achieve their massive goal in that span of time, and - like a falling meteor - they burn out quickly. You can help yourself be more consistent by setting smaller milestones and pausing at each one to pat yourself on the back. Reaffirm the next milestone and its place leading up to that big destination - and take the next step.

Most people will ignore this advice so here's your chance to get ahead.

Decide right now that you will take 1 of your bigger goals and break it into chunks. Then all you have to do is promise yourself that you will work towards it AT LEAST A LITTLE BIT each day or each workday.
That doesn't mean "working harder" or "putting your nose to the grindstone". This shouldn't feel bad to work on something you enjoy on a regular basis. If it feels like a struggle, then congratulations. You've found out that you do NOT enjoy this. Take a step back and reevaluate.
But when you KNOW that THIS is what you want - then each step forward will feel exhilarating. Each accomplished goal will be fuel to keep going and at the end of a small time-frame like 30 days - you'll see how much more progress you've made with this method. And you'll be even MORE eager to dive back in.

It's a great feeling knowing what you want to do and WATCHING yourself get closer and closer and closer to achieving it.

Slow and steady wins the race. Yeah, but this is the case that is most honored especially when the fast but inconsistent poeple are around. If fast and consistent people are around, the slow but steady will have no place.

Slow and steady works in the "Universe", it has no place in the "Multiverse".

Success Quotes of The Day
When things get ultra busy around you - that's when inner focus becomes MORE important. If you let the chaotic exterior make its way to your own interior, then you get swept up in the storm and lose your power.

Make sure you are grounded so you can use that higher energy by directing it towards the things that YOU want. Make it serve you.
