Will President Obama be good for business or not?

That's the big question and the answer is simple:

IT WILL NOT AFFECT YOU.
(Not in any drastic way.)

The tall and short of it is this: If you're a new entrepreneur or small business owner (earning less than $200K/year), you don't pay higher taxes. You don't pay capital gains taxes. If you've built your business from NOTHING to over $200,000 then the assumption is that you can grow it a bit more and afford to pay the roughly 4% increase.

Personally, I'm not a fan of taxing successful people MORE than others. I'm all for the flat tax, but that doesn't look like it's going to happen any time soon. So what you can do in the mean time is take advantage of the situation that YOU are in.

Wherever you are there are benefits for you.

If you're just starting out:

Relish in the fact that taxes will not be hurting you - get your mind on your business and OFF all the scare tactic tax talk. The economy is behind you. The government wants you to succeed - to create jobs - to be a leader.

If you're earning $200k+ and Worried:

Here's the biggest problem with this group - usually the thought-process is a little jumbled. Small business owners at this level have been here for awhile. They've settled in. They've gotten comfortable. They have been here so long that they have actually FORGOTTEN what it's like to CLIMB THROUGH THE INCOME LEVELS.

Can you imagine what your mindset was like while you were transforming an idea into a fully-functional business earning hundreds of thousands of dollars per year? That's what you want to get back - that mindset. You weren't thinking about taxes. You weren't worried about 4-5% increases. You were utterly focused on building your idea. Get back to that fun, creative mindset.

People who watch the news, become worried, and point The Finger of Blame this way and that way DO NOT CREATE BUSINESSES. They move into old folks' homes.

Stop worrying.

Obama isn't going to hold you down. And he's not going to lift you up.
Be a leader. Take responsibility, and focus on building YOUR idea into a successful business. You are the President of your Life.
